Amazon $15 Gift Certificate Giveaway 11/11 US&CAN

What’s my goal with this blog? I want to do reviews/giveaways, as simple as that! I sit at home all day long and I’m beyond bored. One of my passions in life is trying out products. I don’t even want to think about how much money I spent on ‘stuff’ before I learned how to use coupons. At the moment, I obviously don’t work and living on one salary completely cut me off from trying anything new.
I realize that before I can contact any companies I need to build my follower list. And this is where I hope that you will help me out!

For fellow bloggers: Do you have any tips on how to contact companies for reviews/giveaways or do you know which companies are willing to work with smaller blogs like mine? I’d really appreciate your help!
(for you help, you’ll get a bonus entry into this giveaway – see below for details)

Today, I’m feeling generous and I’d like to share it with you!

One lucky winner will receive a $15 Gift Certificate to Amazon
(Either or depending on where the winner is from)

How to enter:

(Please leave your e-mail address in every comment. - I went through some of the comments and many don’t have e-mail addresses and poster’s Blogger profile is private. You can’t win if you don’t leave me a way to contact you!)

(1 entry – MANDATORY) follow my blog via GFC
(1 entry) subscribe via RSS reader
(1 entry) subscribe via e-mail
(1 entry) add me as a friend on Facebook (leave first name and initial)
(1 entry) follow me on twitter @jenyasha (leave your twitter name)

(1 entry per day) tweet - AMAZON $15 Gift Certificate #Giveaway US&CAN Ends 11/11 (leave direct link)
bonus entries:
(1 entry) for bloggers – do you have any review/giveaway tips? (see above for my question for fellow bloggers)
(1 entry) for non-bloggers – what are you looking for in a giveaway blog? (i.e. many giveaways, easy to enter, good prizes, length of giveaways, types of comment forms?)

This giveaway is open to residents of Canada & USA and will end on November 11, 2010. The winner will be determined randomly via The winner will have 48 hours to respond back or another winner will be chosen. I did not receive anything from anyone to write this post. I am giving away something I already own.

I'm going to give you my ideas before doing the other entries, because I don't want to forget anything! Here's what I've learned…

Obviously you need to build up a following, so do blog hops often. I've gotten a lot of my followers that way, and it seems like the possibilities for followers are endless when you do lots of blog hops. Write interesting posts, because if you do, people notice and stick around.

I have learned a lot of what I know by observing other bloggers. I wanted to review books, and I found book review companies simply by looking at the buttons on other blogs' sidebars or the company they credit for providing their products for review. So a good idea would probably be to go to other giveaway blogs and look at their sidebars and footers to see if they have buttons for the product review sites. I've seen a lot of them, because sometime in the future, I plan to host giveaways on my blog… after I get more followers! (Here's an example: At the bottom of, there are a bunch of buttons for review companies. "Pitch It To Me, My Blog Spark, etc.) Do a google search for what you want. I searched because I saw someone else giving books away from a certain publisher, and I was able to figure out how to get my own books to give away.

Try contacting companies whose products you love and tell them that you love their product and would like to help them get the word out. Ask if they would consider sponsoring a giveaway on your blog. I did this recently and received full-sized products to review and give away just for asking!

My brother has a VERY new blog with hardly any followers yet, and he started by reviewing products he already had. Then he wrote to the company and let them know that he reviewed their product (with a link to the review). He had reviewed a free software program, and when he told them he had reviewed it, they gave him the pro version to review free of charge. (This just happened again today and he got a full version program for free!) He has less than 10 followers so far, so it's possible when you're just starting out!

So don't be discouraged. It looks like you're off to a great start. I'd join tons of blog hops if I were you, just to get your followers to keep multiplying. And hosting a giveaway of your own (like you're doing right now) is a great way to get the ball rolling!

I really hope this helps! Good luck on getting great products to review/give away! (I hope this makes sense, I just typed it out as I thought of it! LOL)

Wow, I wrote a whole blog post!! :)

I just subscribed via RSS feed.

(Speaking of which, some companies will ask you how many RSS subscribers you have. So that's another thing other than followers that matters to review companies. If you want to increase your subscribers, you could consider making that the mandatory entry for a giveaway… just my two cents!)

Non-blogger entry. The first thing I look for in a giveaway blog is how many giveaways are open to Canadians. I love following Canadian blogs as I know their giveaways will be Canadian friendly. I like blogs that have their giveaways open for a couple weeks (ie. 2-3 weeks)anything beyond that and it seems to drag on (especially since I like to tweet daily if I can). I like giveaway blogs that publish my comments immediately. Sometimes if I'm entering multiple comments ie. 4 entries for subscribing, I lose track of what comment number I submitted because the comment went into moderation. I love your format and love that there is no validation word to type in. Makes it quick and easy to enter. That's my two cents on giveaway blogs!!

I am looking for a useful prize that I can use personally or gift to friend.
Many giveaways will be a plus.
Length of giveaway not too long, I think 2-3 weeks is good. Otherwise it will be too much effort for those small prize -IMO.

What I'm looking for in a giveaway is length of time. I understand running the giveaway for a long time on big ticket items, but not always on others.
