Skin MD Natural Review & Giveaway [Ends 4/9]

Finding the perfect face cream is one of the hardest challenges I have ever set on. I have a sensitive combination (normal/oily) skin type. Most dermatologist approved creams are filled with chemicals. Yet most plant-based natural/organic creams make my skin turn red and break out in little pimples. The creams I’m on the lookout for are natural/organic, safe for sensitive skin and fit for combination skin. That’s a tough one!

What caught my attention about Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion is that it is dermatology tested, hypoallergenic, fragrance, color and paraben-free AND made with 93% natural ingredients.  I was excited to try a new lotion, but at the same time had my concerns about how my skin would react to it.

I tried it out on my hands first and was very satisfied with the results. The lotion absorbed very quickly, softened my hands and didn’t cause any allergic reactions. I read in many other reviews that people are surprised with consistency of this cream as it’s pretty runny. I’m actually used to this consistency and prefer it over thick white creams. It absorbs quicker and doesn’t leave any greasy residue behind. All oil-free lotions that I have tried have been like this. Skin MD does not have any fragrance, but it does have a scent. It’s a very mild, baby powder/mint-ish type scent.

Prior to testing Skin MD, my face skin broke out in horrible pimples, which is not a normality for me as I rarely get pimples. I decided to still use this lotion morning and night for a week to see what results I would get from it. Just like on the hands, this lotion absorbed very quickly. What surprised me, is unlike other lotions of similar consistency I did not feel a layer of cream coming off from my face while washing it the morning after applying it for the night. I felt nothing come off, which means that skin really did absorb all of it. That was a first for me. After the first application and continuing into the week, my skin felt very smooth and moisturized. It did not help reduce the redness of the pimple break outs on my face, which I did not expect to happen as this lotion is a better fit for dry skin. Well good news for the cream, I actually had some dry-peeling skin on my cheeks as well. And Skin MD performed as promised while dealing with the dry patches. It took two applications and the patches disappeared and never re-appeared.

Would I recommend this cream? I would, especially if you have dry skin as it really does help to soften it.

Skin MD Natural comes in a 120ml bottle which retails for $18. Shipping to US is free if you purchase 3 bottles and to Canada it’s $9.95. It is a bit expensive for a cream, but it would depend on what you are used to. I’m used to the high-end cosmetics retailing at $50+, which I don’t buy anymore after learning about the chemicals. So for me, I’m saving money and doing my skin a favor at the same time. The bottle says it’s a 1-2 month supply with daily use. I think this lotion would last way longer. And for me, it would probably last about a year as I don’t apply creams daily, but on a ‘as needed’ basis.

If you would like to try before you buy, for $2 + $2 shipping you can purchase 2x4ml sample packs of Skin MD Natural or Skin MD Natural with SPF 15. I also received sample packs of the SPF15 lotion but I’m waiting for sunny weather to try them out. I know that cream with SPF should be used daily no matter what the weather is, but since I stay at home most of the time, I only worry about it when I’m out and it’s really sunny.
