Headbands might sound like accessories, but for me they fall under the necessities category. No matter how short or long you hair is and whether or not you have bangs – hair will always get in the face. If you live a remotely active lifestyle or have unpredictable weather conditions, you know how annoying it is to have hair get in your face.
I have to admit, I don’t really do any running or exercising (when to find the time?), but I do quite a bit of walking. Vancouver is an interesting place. It’s somewhat humid and weather conditions change many times throughout the day. A rainy day might turn into windy and then into sunny. No way to predict. My hair does not like humidity at all (even worse if it’s windy). Well, whose does? I have frizzy hair and side bangs, which are hard to control. Just putting my hair into a ponytail to go outside in windy weather – does not work. That’s why I prefer to wear headbands to control my hair.
Bondi Band is a line of comfy, colorful, and creative headbands to fit every lifestyle and personality. They are made using stretchy and breathable material and fit virtually every head size comfortably and fashionably. What I really loved reading about this company is that every year they donate 10% of our pretax profits to charity. For 2011 they have chosen the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Bondi Bands come in 3 varieties – light sweat wicking, heavy sweat wicking and glow-in-the-dark. The wicking fabrics will absorb and evaporate buckets of sweat.

I chose a Gold Mine lycra headband for this review. There are a lot of very pretty and funky designs to choose from. It’s not that I’m not adventurous, but I prefer to stick with simple patterns and that’s why I chose a golden one. The photo on the website doesn’t give it justice at all. It’s actually a very bright golden pattern, which virtually can be worn with anything. I’ve never had a soft fabric headband like this before and was very curious to see how it would compare to the thin plastic ones I usually wear. To my surprise it actually fit very well, a bit on the tighter side, but it didn’t try to slip off at all. It’s meant to sweep the bangs back, which I just left out instead for a more fashionable look (pardon my messy, not flat-ironed hair photos). But I’ve worn it both ways actually and both ways are fine. If it’s a sunny day, you can leave the bangs out and make the headband thinner. If it’s windy or you are doing some running, then it’s better to sweep the bangs back. I didn’t experience any sweating or any moisture at all under the fabric. Overall, I’m very happy to have the Bondi Band in my headbands collection!
Bondi Bands retail for $8 and shipping starts at $3.95 to US and $4.95 to Canada. They are affordable enough to be able to stock up on a couple of different designs to suit different moods and activities. Besides headbands, Bondi Band also offers wicking hats, swim caps, baby headbands and many other head accessories for all genders and ages and even dogs!
