I love finding companies who are not only in the business to make profit, but are also in it to help out a cause. Basa Body is one of these rare companies. Their story began years ago with a single trip to Kenya. They connected with wonderful, intelligent women who were working hard to feed their families. These women made a living by producing virgin, organic coconut oil by hand. Basa Body was named after these women from Mombasa Kenya. The company was developed to help these women keep their jobs, grow their business, put food on the table and tell their story to the world. Basa Body also donates 10% of its profits to humanitarian projects in Kenya. Yehu Microfinance is one of their partner organizations and has helped over 18,000 women secure loans to start their own businesses and help themselves and their families rise out of poverty.
Basa Body is officially launching their products and website in November, but they are already starting to create a buzz on the Internet. All products in their line contain virgin organic coconut oil from Kenya. Their range of products will consist of a body lotion, body stick, lip butter, serum, soap and a cosmetic line.
What’ so good about coconut oil? It’s actually one of the healthiest oils in the world. It provides a wide range of benefits including: reducing inflammation, repairing skin tissue, help with premature aging, control eczema and dandruff and many many other benefits. It’s non-toxic and has no side effects. Besides all these great unique properties of coconut oil it also smells great!
Basa Body Lotion and Basa Body Stick are the two signature products of Basa Body. Both products contain minimum ingredients and are safe for sensitive, dry skin.
Basa Body Lotion comes in a 6oz tube and is 100% natural. That means no parabens, artificial fragrances or preservatives and harsh irritating chemicals. The ingredient list is as follows – distilled water, coconut oil, cetearyl alcohol, sorbitan olivate, cetyl palmitate, sorbitan palmitate, glycerin, citric acid, leucidal liquid, sodium benzoate, gluconolactone and benzyl alcohol. I can’t say I know what some of the ingredients are, but no parabens and sulfates is good enough for me! This lotion smells delicious. The consistency is creamy white and it spreads and absorbs very easy and quickly. It works great on the skin and my dry hands.
Basa Body Stick is a natural coconut oil healing balm. It soothes, softens and protects irritated, cracked and dry skin. It only has two ingredients – virgin coconut oil and beeswax. It has a very slight coconut scent, but more so it smells like nothing, which is great for sensitive skin. It comes in a twist container, which makes it easy to apply this product to heels, elbows, knuckles and hands. It helps to heal and soothe skin as well as conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Coconut oil also has anti-fungal properties and works well on diaper rashes. If you don’t like getting your hands oily and just want a quick moisturizing relief for dry skin, this is a wonderful product! It’s super easy to use and it actually does a great job of hydrating dry skin. I apply it to my dry feet and put on thick comfy socks to help absorb the coconut oil into the skin.
If you don’t know already, I’m a huge coconut junkie. Anything with coconut will always be a hit with me. If you love coconut products, you’ll love Basa Body as much as I do! Usually I try a moisturizer once and then give it away to friends, but I’m keeping this one for myself :) Hop on to Basa Body website in November to check out their brand new products and stock up on the coconut goodies. Right now, you can sign up for a 50% off coupon of their products to redeem later as well as some freebies.
